Ruth Murdock

Ruth Martin Murdock, 85, passed away on January 5, 2016 following a brief illness. Ruth was born in Houston, TX on December 14, 1930 to Anton J. Martin and Sydney Eliza de Zavala.  Ruth was a proud member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and Austin's Old 300. Her career included executive assistant positions at Homeco, Weingarten Realty, Kwik Kopy, Treesweet, Pete Massarini & Asssoc., Sidaras & Assoc., Service Corp. Int'l., Coventry Property Mgmt., and Galtney. Along the way, she made many treasured friends whom she kept in her life. Ruth was a breast cancer survivor and always dwelled on the positives in her life. She maintained that she had many blessings and that her glass was half full. She loved country western dancing, road trips, monthly Mexican Train games, playing Words with Friends on her Kindle, and spending time with family and friends.  
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Debra and Harold Barrow, and son and daughter-in-law Dennis and Rhonda Murdock. Ruth also has two grandsons, Brian Barrow, and wife Mary, and Christopher Barrow and wife, Sara, as well as four great grandchildren, Corbin, Claire, Caroline, and Benjamin Barrow. She is also survived by her sisters, Emma Allen and Rosa Viator and brother-in-law Jerry Viator, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her ex-husband and friend, Hugh Palmer Murdock.
